A Living Will is different from a Will.
A Living Will focuses on your medical wishes—specifically, what should be done if you become terminally ill or incapacitated and are unable to communicate your preferences. This may include decisions about life support, resuscitation, and other critical treatments.
A Legal Will (also called a Last Will and Testament) outlines what should happen to your assets, property, and dependents after your death.
A Living Will is also not the same as an Advance Health Care Directive (AHCD). An AHCD is a broader document that often includes your Living Will plus a Health Care Proxy or Medical Power of Attorney—a person you designate to make medical decisions on your behalf if you're unable to do so.
In short:
A Will = after-death instructions for your estate.
A Living Will = medical treatment preferences if you're incapacitated.
An AHCD = Living Will + someone to speak on your behalf.
Please note, we offer a Last Will & Testament and an Advanced Health Care Directive. We do not currently offer a Living Will.
